Québécois Noirs: Art, Literacy & Storytelling Exhibit
Québécois Noirs: Literacy & Storytelling is a curated event launching a year-long exhibit by Dispositif Holistique. Opening with a special community event in Little Burgundy on July 19, 2025, at UNIA Montreal (2741 Notre-Dame O.), the exhibit centers Black storytelling, literacy, and cultural memory in Quebec.
Supported by Ville de Montréal, this opening event features live performances, shared stories, and a cultural gathering that produced many of the materials now showcased in the exhibit.
The exhibit itself features archival materials, personal narratives, literary works, and visual media, highlighting the role of Black communities in shaping Quebec’s cultural and historical landscape. It invites visitors to reflect on the power of language, identity, and intergenerational knowledge.
Grounded in Dispositif Holistique’s commitment to critical literacy and cultural preservation, Québécois Noirs offers a sustained space for learning, connection, and honoring Black voices throughout the year.
